My photography class was assigned to look at three photos and examine them to share our opinion. For this assignment i have chosen the top three photographs and share a little bit of their back-round along with how i feel about the photograph and specific details the photographer decided to share. The top left photo is a photo of, V-J Day in Times Square; taken by Alfred Eisenstaedt in 1945. I think this photo perfectly describes not only the feeling of relief but almost the fairy tale ending of the war.The photographer captured almost the epitome of how people felt about the war being over and used the technique of something being captured in the perfect moment in time. The second photo that was the most influential to me is the middle photo Elizabeth Eckford and Hazel Massery; Will Counts, taken in 1957.
Elizabeth Eckford was one of the first black students admitted to Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. This photo shows her walk to class while being shouted at by white student Hazel Massery. This shows the feeling of people from the south and perfectly catches the essence of hatred between the two races at this point in time, making the photo emotional in and of itslef. The last photo i found very influential is Migrant Mother; Dorothea Lange, 1936.This images description explains the image of a working woman who had just sold her cars tires to feed her seven children. This captures the realism of this time period. The photographer did an exceptional job of capturing the mothers worry on her face and how many people felt and what they worried about in this time period.
