Diptych assignment

The diptych photos i decided to take were the opposites of being awake versus being asleep. I decided to take my photos vertical so they were more intriguing to look at. While i edited these photos i also decided a vignette was the best way to go to truly make the colors pop and bring the emotion out in the picture.

triptych assignment

The triptych photos i have taken are the different parts of the tree. I decided to use a tree and take different view points so that you can get a different feeling for each. I also used a vignette on this one so it gives the photo more of a spooky feeling.

Pros and cons of Raw

Pros: complete data from camera sensor, higher dynamic range, ability to shoot "perfect" exposure, better for court evidence, greater levels of brightness.
Cons:requires special software to view, lower in contrast, not as sharp, not suitable for printing directly from camera, waiting to be processed by your computer.

Raw vs JPeg

We were assigned to compare and contrast the differences of Raw and JPeg photos. Looking  through the links given this is what I've learned. Raw photos include the following; raw requires special software to view. It is typically a proprietary format. Raw photos are uncompressed. Also has complete data from the camera sensor. They have a higher dynamic range, they're  lower in contrast, and not as sharp. These images are not suitable for printing directly from camera. On the other JPeg photos have the following qualities; the first is a standard format readable by any image program. It is fairly small in size, compressed, higher in contrast, and sharper. It is also immediately suitable for sharing, printing, and posting. There is no need of correction, and is able  to be manipulated. The only similarities i was able to find was both JPeg and Raw shooting both have at least 8 bits per color.

30 Photos that Changed the World

My photography class was assigned to look at three photos and examine them to share our opinion. For this assignment i have chosen the top three photographs and share a little bit of their back-round along with how i feel about the photograph and specific details the photographer decided to share. The top left photo is a photo of, V-J Day in Times Square;  taken by Alfred Eisenstaedt in 1945. I think this photo perfectly describes not only the feeling of relief but almost the fairy tale ending of the war.The photographer captured almost the epitome of how people felt about the war being over and used the technique of something being captured in the perfect moment in time. The second photo that was the most influential to me is the middle photo  Elizabeth Eckford and Hazel Massery; Will Counts,  taken in 1957.
Elizabeth Eckford was one of the first black students admitted to Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. This photo shows her  walk to class while being shouted at by white student Hazel Massery. This shows the feeling of people from the south and perfectly catches the essence of hatred between the two races at this point in time, making the photo emotional in and of itslef. The last photo i found very influential is Migrant Mother; Dorothea Lange, 1936.
This images description explains the image of a working woman who had just sold her cars tires to feed her seven children. This captures the realism of this time period. The photographer did an exceptional job of capturing the mothers worry on her face and how many people felt and what they worried about in this time period.
